Gather Survey Data helpThere are many different field methods that can be used for gathering data on invasive species. For plants, it is generally a good idea to use a plot-based sampling regime that allows researchers to capture many characteristics of the plant community besides just the presence or absence of individual invasive plants. Plot designs vary dramatically, but there are several well tested methods that can be recommended. We have compiled a list of plot types that are most compatible with our database design along with the reasons to use each. In addition, we offer a variety of field tools to help land managers and researchers alike collect field data efficiently. Our field tools are affordable, easy to use, and directly interface with our database. They can be tailored to standard plot types and custom plot types as needed. State species lists are available and can be imported directly into PALM field computers. Additional field tools available from other resources include The What's Invasive applications ESRI's ArcPad |
